When learning a new language, sooner or later you start wonder about its origins and how it has evolved along the centuries.

I put this visual guide together to show you the most important milestones of Hungarian as we know it today. 

As you see, Hungarian, as an independent language is about 1000 years old. This is less impressive than English, for example, or many other languages, but rest assured, this short time was enough to develop some features that give the learners quite some pain 🙂 Nothing that couldn’t be overcome, of course 🙂
